AOUSD Interest Groups

The AOUSD Interest Groups are open environments for both developers and creators to engage with the OpenUSD ecosystem. These groups provide a channel for input and requests from the community, enhancing collaboration and innovation.

Each Interest Group operates under specific charters, with well-defined scopes and objectives, to drive meaningful progress in their respective areas. They will provide recommendations to relevant Working Groups within AOUSD, ensuring that insights and innovations are considered in the OpenUSD ecosystem.

Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO)

The AECO Interest Group will examine the potential for USD in the AECO sector and provide recommendations on its adoption. The group will assess USD’s relationship with existing standards such as IFC, and identify the prioritized requirements needed to drive USD adoption in the AECO industry.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)

The DEI Interest Group is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across AOUSD’s organization and its activities, including its deliverables, participants, leadership, and industry impact. The DEI Interest Group will explore concrete actions AOUSD can take to accomplish these goals, leveraging OpenUSD’s potential to empower a broad range of creative efforts and end-user experiences.

VIEW CHARTER

USD Emerging Geometry

The USD Emerging Geometry Interest Group will focus on learning about and sharing experiences with emerging technologies related to 3D asset representation. The initial focus will be on assets generated via neural reconstruction (NeRF & Gaussian Splats) and Signed Distance Field (SDF) primitives and operators. This group will explore the interoperability between new and traditional representations like parametric surfaces and meshes already part of the USD geometry schemas.
