AOUSD Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Interest Group

Our mission is to build a diverse ecosystem within AOUSD where creators, developers, and users from all backgrounds can thrive.

We aim to understand and remove barriers to participation, foster a sense of belonging, amplify underrepresented voices, and champion representation both within our technical community and in the creative works produced using OpenUSD technology.

Key Pillars

The DEI philosophy comprises five key pillars that, implemented effectively, will help foster a representative and inclusive environment for everyone.

Treat all members with respect.

Irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, faith, physical ability, or social background, all members should be treated with respect and dignity.

Offer a fair chance for everyone to participate.

Contributing content, ideas, and opinions is open to all at AOUSD, provided that contributions align with the discussions, directions, or mandates set by the respective AOUSD interest group, working group, or steering committee.

Appreciate diverse perspectives.

Members are not expected to take the same position on every topic. Therefore, diversity of thought and opinion should be welcomed while maintaining a robust and civilized exchange.

Embrace a representative culture.

Everyone has an equal opportunity to represent themselves in the way they choose while ensuring compliance with applicable AOUSD mandates and guidelines.

Build a better AOUSD future together.

Work collectively toward achieving AOUSD’s mission: “to foster the standardization, development, evolution, and growth of OpenUSD” while addressing the global needs of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive ecosystem.
